Judge in Mexico Links to Process Suspect in Double Feminicide

A control judge from the State of Mexico's Judicial Branch ordered the binding to process against Eric Antonio 'N' for the double femicide of his 25-year-old wife, Cindy, and his 53-year-old mother-in-law, Teresita de Jesús, after the State of Mexico's prosecution provided sufficient evidence to open the criminal process against the detainee. During the hearing to link him to the process, it was also established that Eric Antonio received help from a man accused of sexual abuse against a minor, who has also been detained and sent to prison to answer for that crime. A report from the State of Mexico's Attorney General's Office (FGJEM) reconstructed the crime in detail and the frustrated escape of the femicide after the double crime committed on January 12 in a housing unit in Cuautitlán, State of Mexico. According to the FGJEM, on January 12, Eric Antonio went in search of his wife, who had left her own home the day before, fleeing the violence her husband exercised against her. Candy had taken refuge in an apartment located in the San Francisco Cascantitla subdivision in Cuautitlán, where her mother Teresita de Jesús lived, when Eric Antonio 'N' arrived at that place. The alleged femicide managed to enter the premises under a false pretense, as he promised to bring clothes for the child to Candy 'N', but when he managed to enter the apartment, he locked the six-year-old son in a room and began to attack his partner with a hammer. After allegedly killing Candy, Eric Antonio 'N' would have gone to his mother-in-law Teresita de Jesús's room, who lived with a disability, to also finish her off with the hammer, finally taking his three-year-old daughter to supposedly take her to a daycare center and begin his escape. Escape with the help of family and a fugitive. The investigation by the Public Ministry shows that after allegedly killing his mother-in-law Teresita and his ex-partner Candy, Eric Antonio 'N' traveled on January 13 to the home of a relative in the municipality of San Martín de las Pirámides, State of Mexico, who gave him cash money so he could continue his escape to the state of Guerrero. On January 14, the alleged femicide traveled to the port of Acapulco, where first he stayed in a hotel and then moved to the Vicente Guerrero 200 Housing Unit to stay in the apartment of Alejandro 'N', who had promised to find him a job and help him hide. After completing the investigations that led to his location, elements of the State of Mexico Prosecutor's Office and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), with the support of the Secretariats of National Defense (Sedena) and the Navy of Mexico, carried out a search of the premises, managing to capture Eric Antonio on January 17. During the investigation process, federal and state authorities discovered that Alejandro 'N', the alleged femicide's accomplice, had an outstanding arrest warrant for the crime of sexual abuse against a minor, corresponding to events that occurred in 2022, in Cuautitlán, State of Mexico. For this reason, he was also detained and transferred to the State of Mexico to initiate the corresponding criminal process. As for Eric Antonio 'N', he was admitted in the early hours of Sunday, January 18, to the Cuautitlán Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center, where he was made available to the Judicial Authority. Already in the hearing and with the data gathered during the investigations, a penal judge resolved his binding to process, and granted a three-month deadline to the Prosecutor's Office of the State of Mexico for the closure of the investigation, also ratifying the precautionary measure of justified preventive prison against him. State of Mexico authorities recalled that additionally, Eric Antonio 'N' faces a second criminal process for the crime of rape against his ex-partner, an investigation folder initiated in 2018, so he has also been linked to the process and subject to prison.
